These are my favorite workout shorts, but they're not perfect. I do mostly P90X workouts and running, so this review is geared to those things.Likes:The fabric is fantastic. It breathes; it stretches; it moves with me. It's always comfortable. The pockets. Lightweight with zippers, it securely holds my phone, driver's license, keys, and poop bags (I run with my dog). The zippers never come open even a little bit.Dislikes:Sizing is off and is specific. Lots of other shorts have a drawstring closure that goes around the waist to cinch it up or elastic to let it out. These don't. The fabric can stretch, but you don't want the waistline to stretch to your waist--that will cause some of the other complaints you see in reviews here about the fly coming open in activity. I have a 33-34 waist. I have these shorts in a 33 waist, and those shorts feel too large but wearable. I have them in a 32 waist, and those feel just right. If I lose any weight, my 33s will be unwearable, and my 32s will feel large but wearable. I'm not used to clothes that are so specifically tied to my waist size, especially exercise clothes.Cosmetically these shorts have disappointed. The drawstrings have plastic endcaps that can come off, and I don't care enough to glue them back on: I just get annoyed at them. There are two visible 5.11 logos, one small and embroidered, the other large and sort of rubberized screen-printed (I'm not sure the right term). The rubberized screen printing is coming off the pairs that I wear the most. I don't care when just working out, but if I show up to a non-muddy race, I'd like to look decent at the starting line.Weird but neutral:The fly is not a real fly, but you can reach in there if needed. There is no closure (zipper, buttons, velcro), just a piece of black fabric that works. If your shorts are sized too small, this will open up in a way you probably don't want to open up in public. (But if you sized your shorts too large, they will not stay up.)Conclusion:I buy these for the comfort and pockets. If I knew of something better than these, I would buy those. If you can live with the limitations, these can be your favorite shorts too. If you are considering them, be prepared to return them for a size that fits you better. You'll really want these sized for you.I'm 6'2", 215 and where a size 34 waist. I've got three pair and these are my favorite workout shorts. I have a snap closure from another manufacturer that are my second choice. But I prefer either the drawstring or snap over elastic any day. I wear these for crossfit workouts. They breathe, shed moisture and don't bunch up. I don't even think about my clothing during a WOD which is what you want. The fly is covered by a traingular piece of fabric that allows the short to open fully while pulling over hips. But closes fully when properly laced. I think guys that are complaining about the fly are protesting too much about projecting their manhood. If you're popping open, the shorts are too small.I purchased a pair of these shorts several years ago and loved them. I used them as a bathing suit actually. We spend a lot of time in MX and hike to the beach every day. These short were put to the test every day for 54 consecutive days (scrubbed in the sink washes) and they held up great. Super comfortable, flexible material. Zip up pockets on bot sides, good closure system. This seller was the only place I could find these shorts in stock. Quick ship and BNIB. Thank you!I've seen other comments about how tese shorts start to fall apart quick, I have 3 pair and wear them regularly for CrossFit. The only minor issue I've had was the little metal cap on the draw string fell off of ine pair other than that they are extremely comfortable, but yes the are kinda expensive I was able to buy mine when they were 24.00 and 32.00 dollars I wouldn't pay 50 plus for the short much less any pair of shorts. My only issue is I wish they had at least one zippered back pocket like the thigh pockets. If you can find them on soecial I highly recommend you get at least 2Rating these as a 1 because I don't think I can wear them anywhere but around the house - pretty expensive for PJs - and because they started to fall apart on the first wash (gentle cycle, inside out, as the label calls for).I'd hoped to find a pair of shorts for my workouts (P90X, Asylum), for running, and/or for obstacle races. These are a no-go for running - the fly isn't secured by anything, and when I run, it looks like I've forgotten to zip up. Not the image I want in a finisher photo. Not useful for obstacle races - they're secured only by the drawstring, which only goes through the grommets in the front. I'm trying to figure out how to add a hook and eye, an inner button, or belt loops to be able to use them, but by then I might as well have bought another pair of shorts. Anyway, given the number of races that involve pulling myself through the mud or along the top of the wall, I prefer to wear something that has at least two points of control. (Columbia fishing shorts, for example, which have both a button and belt loops).Same problems for workouts. If I'm doing Asylum by myself, I may not care that the fly gapes open on every half-squat, but if I'm working out in the privacy of my own home, I can just use normal training shorts anyway.I love the fabric. These are by far my most comfortable shorts. I love the two pockets - if it weren't for the problems, they'd be great for keeping a key in while running, for example.I am 6'1" 230 lbs and I wear somewhere between a 34" and 36" waist but I have bigger legs so I usually go up in waist size to get the extra leg room. I like the shorts overall but the waist is horrible! There is absolutely no way to get them tight and when I start sweating the shorts expand a bit and I have to hold them up to get through a workout. I am to the point that I can't return them so unfortunately I am going to have to have them altered somehow to add a string or something that will allow me to keep them on. That is disappointing because these shorts were not cheap. These are really great shorts, the size is spot on and the quality is excellent. Glad I spent the extra as they are just as good as high end crossfit shorts.Don't bother with the cheaper mma style shorts on here the size and quality is terribleQuality training shorts for all aspects of gym work . Fit well and the zipped small pockets are ideal . Would like more of the 5.11 range . Have 2 pairs of these shorts .Good fit, light and slightly stretchy, useful zipped pockets. Perfect for gym.Great shorts but expensive. Could do with being around £30Larger than expected, otherwise good pants
